Beyond the Cert IV

Your trainers have the Cert IV. Here's what it didn't cover.

In-person CPD for South Australian trainers. Hands-on teaching skills the TAE doesn't focus on, plus the AI know-how it doesn't cover at all.

For RTOs, group training providers, industry employers (trades, manufacturing, mining, defence) and larger organisations with teams of trainers and assessors, in Adelaide and across South Australia.

The problem

You've invested 12 to 18 months and thousands of dollars getting your best people through the TAE. It's a solid foundation for compliance. It's lighter on two things your trainers face every single day.

South Australia's skills push in defence, shipbuilding, mining, construction and energy means more learners, and the pressure lands squarely on in-house trainers.

Gap 1: The room

The TAE covers the paperwork, but not always the part where you stand in front of strangers and help them learn.

Gap 2: AI

Your learners are already using it. The qualification hasn't caught up, and updates are likely years away.

What we offer

Concise, practical, in-person sessions that pick up where the TAE leaves off. Two streams, eight modules, mix and match. No units of competency, no convoluted assessment tasks, no compliance paperwork. Just better trainers.

Ready for the room: Live teaching skills

  1. How adults learn. The practical essentials: why experience, relevance and respect matter, and how to plan a session that works with them. No deep theory, just what changes how you teach tomorrow.
  2. Owning the room. Presence, setting the tone, reading the room and keeping adult learners engaged from the first five minutes.
  3. Managing group dynamics. The know-it-all, the quiet one, the sceptic and the phone checker. Handling tricky moments and staying calm when a session goes sideways.
  4. Teaching and assessing on the job. Demonstrating a skill, observing someone do it, judging competence with confidence and giving feedback that actually changes what they do next.

Teach with AI: Planning, assessment and learner support

  1. Planning and resources. Use AI to prepare sessions and materials faster, without losing judgement or quality.
  2. Assessment that holds up. Design and run assessments that still show real competence when learners have AI in their pocket.
  3. Supporting learners who use AI. Help learners use it well, and spot when it's doing the learning for them.
  4. Using it responsibly. Privacy, integrity and working within your organisation's policies.

How it works

Delivered in person at your workplace in Adelaide or regional South Australia, so nobody loses a day to travel

Small groups, up to 3 hours per module, run as one block or staggered across weeks

Take one module, one stream or all eight. Each works on its own, but the streams are built to pair.

Built around your industry, your trainers' real classes and your current AI policies

Counts toward your trainers' professional development plans

Trainers who stay, learners who finish and assessments that still mean something, without adding hours to anyone's prep.

Frequently asked questions

Who is it for?

Trainers who've recently finished the TAE, are working toward it, or have been teaching a while without much support.

Is it accredited?

No, on purpose. That frees us to focus on what trainers need now, not what a unit says.

Do we have to book both streams?

Nope. Each module stands on its own. Pick what your team needs most and add more later.

What do trainers need to know before the AI sessions?

Some hands-on time with a tool like ChatGPT, Claude or Copilot, and a basic idea of what it can do. No technical skills needed. We build from there.

Can you tailor it?

Yes. We shape examples around your industry and the classes your trainers run, and build around your AI policy. No policy yet? We'll help you spot the gaps.
